By invitation of Shetland Arts, we were delighted to visit Lerwick, Shetland to provide a Come and Play workshop and perform an evening concert in the beautiful Mareel concert venue on 9 June 2018.
Come and Play Workshop
We had a productive time working with the participants of the workshop. From warm-ups, to composing, to performing their music creations, it was an exciting session and the time disappeared quickly. Here’s a short summary of what we managed to fit into the few hours available:
Evening Concert – Jazz Ripples
The call was for modern music, so we chose our Jazz Ripples ‘menu’ to bring forth an engaging combination of repertoire with jazz, in many forms, being the underlying theme throughout the performance.
The concert included works from André Previn and Michael Tilson-Thomas, balanced by Henze and Jim Parker, offering a whirlwind tour of styles and musical variety to uplift, challenge and entertain whilst expanding awareness of the diversity of brass quintet music.
